An independent suspension provides better clearance as there is a gap between the two arms of the suspension.
Greater control as the independent suspension helps in spreading the load onto the chassis across a wider distance.Better support and lower chassis stresses, especially when the trailer is loaded.
The independent arms of the suspension mean that thuds experienced on one side of the camper are not directly transferred to the other side which means the wheels ride over undulations staying perpendicular to the surface.
Another very compelling reason to have an independent suspension - especially in heavier trailers - is that the suspension acts as a “resonance breaker”.
